This inspired, authentic collection was originally chosen using the 2011 Ontario Finest Meat Competition as a means to discover the best products crafted with meat and poultry that has been raised, finished and processed in Ontario. A stellar roster of knowledgeable, influential judges including retail buyers, media, chefs and a home economist determined the Platinum, Gold, and Silver award winners in each category.
Ontario processors that met the criteria and wished to be included in the Heritage collection put forward their award winning products for consideration. The collection encompasses both traditional and innovative products made with the skills and, in some cases, the recipes that have been passed down through many generations. In 2012, winners of the 2009 Ontario Finest Meat Competition have been invited to put forward their award winning products and participate in the collection.
